With £2 million available in 2026/27, the Big Chalk Nature Recovery Fund is supporting practical action to restore, create and reconnect habitats and recover species, helping deliver the government’s commitment to conserve and manage at least 30% of land for nature by 2030.
From restoring species-rich grassland and improving chalk streams to creating habitat, supporting nature-friendly farming and investing in the infrastructure needed for long-term nature recovery, we’re looking for projects that can make a lasting difference.

This practical session will take you through what we’re looking for and how the application process works. You’ll hear directly from members of the Big Chalk Nature Recovery Fund team and have the opportunity to ask questions.

- What we’re looking to fund, including examples from projects already supported.
- What’s important in this funding round, including the stronger focus on 30by30.
- Funding tiers and guidance, from small grants to larger, exceptional projects.
- How to apply – including the new three-step process, starting with an Expression of Interest and Plinth – our online grant management system.
- What you can expect from Big Chalk, including support from our Fund Managers as you develop your proposal.
- Your questions answered – with time for a live Q&A.
Grants start at £1,000, with grants of more than £100,000 possible in exceptional circumstances for projects delivering significant and lasting benefits for nature.
